Little Curious One.

Click for a bigger picture

Quite random shot taken on a relatively warm October day when I was wandering around near my school and looking for things to photograph for the photo contest. Near my schoolhouse is a yard where three ponies and some sheep spend their days.

I managed to make friends with the ponies and also take some pictures of them. One of them was really shy guy and he soon ran away, the second one was friendly and curious about the orange-haired girl with a strange black box in her hands and the third one was a real egomaniac and quite a big bully. He decided that it would be a good idea to hassle some sheep and also steal away the spotlight, but it ended up badly for him, because he almost slipped on the wet ground and I'm pretty sure that the poor sheep laughed at him.

This was the second pony. The little curious one.

Pink Summer.

Something really colourful and happy from the end of the last summer. We met our two friends, grabbed some beers and went to the park. We talked, I took some photos... About 15 minutes later the sky was dark and it was raining. But I got my bright-and-bubbly photo.

I'm not very fond of colourful art, because it never feels right and the colours always confuse me. Most of my gallery is a bit dark and black & white themed, but this one is somehow special and I like how young and cheerful it looks. Maybe colours aren't my enemies no longer.

This photo was taken on the last day of my trip in Coven Garden. I was sitting behind a small table outside the coffee-shop, took a sip of hot and sweet caffe latte, smoked a cigarette and figured that it's probably my last chance to take a picture of my beautiful London.

...and I wondered what it would feel like to live high up there in the London sky.

Portobello Road Market was an amazing place. So much antique furniture, tableware, old records and posters... When I finally reached the table covered with so many old cameras, I immediately thought about my friend and colleague T.

He was the first person who told me about different cameras, prices and gave me good advice when I tortured him with stupid questions, because I didn't know anything about photography and cameras. I still don't know about 95% of things, but I'm glad that he helped and supported me.

Too bad that I didn't have that much money, because a camera like that would have been a great present for him.

Found this photo sitting in my computer: it was a test photo, because I had just bought my camera. My father, sister and I were coming back from Saaremaa (our summer-home is there) and I was taking random pictures on the ferry, just trying different buttons and modes. But I must say I like this one.

The air was still warm and smelled salty, seagulls followed the ferry and sunshine was hurting our eyes. We were sitting together on the deck and the wind played with our hair. I love travelling by ferries. It always reminds me of childhood.

While wandering around in Camden Town, I saw a really handsome boy. He caught my eye not only because he was very tall, brown-eyed and he wore that wildly cool red jacket, but because there weren't exactly lots of handsome men in London...

I saw him again later in the Tube with a tiny girl. He put his hand around her and train arrived to the station. For those few moments it seemed that the world stood still and nothing else in the world mattered. Only they and love.

I wish you well.

My mother and I were walking in Southwark, when she suddenly told me to look at this strange house that was made of black reflecting glass. She asked me to take a picture of it and later, in the hotel, I saw how interesting the picture was. It felt like another world peeking through the glass.

I became very fond of those red-and-sepia tourist postcards on my second trip to London. For some reason, it's very easy for me to imagine London in this selective sepia way. It's like the city was made to be old and upstanding sepia-toned with some bold red spots like buses and phone booths.

Anyway, I bought a postcard with a red bus and Westminster Palace, got on the plane and promised that next time I'll try to get a shot like that too.

And I did. It's extremely cliché photo, but I like it. It's clean and simple and the red just pops out so brightly!

This photo was taken behind the Guild Church of St Mary Aldermary, which is situated near St. Paul's Cathedral.

Another shot from my trip. I'm pretty convinced that London is made of tiny coffee-shops where people can order a big cup of caffè latte and a cherry tart and sit near the windows. And then they just take time out, enjoy sweet coffee and those heavenly baked goods.

I also discovered that I like to take photos through glass. Love that little blue bokeh... I must really try shooting through windows again.

Something beautiful from London. I was amazed how abstract this photo turned out to be. Because of the result and my great passion for abstract art, I didn't add any labels or keywords that would give away what's on this photo.

So you can try and guess.

I was a bit disappointed that one of the capsules was missing, because I'm known for my love for perfectness. Everything needs to be symmetric, equal and "right". But eventually this picture's imperfectness won my heart. I think the missing one really gives something extra to this simple photo.

Woman from Mütofest braiding a new belt from grass and plants for her son. I was amazed how easy everything seemed there. Something went broken - they fixed it. This woman just took some plants, said that everything will be okay and started braiding. I wish that more people in this world knew how to solve problems with such little and natural things.

This photo was the submission that won my school's photo contest. It was the best photo in the "Best Photo Voted by the Judges" category.

This old empty house is in my school yard and teachers used to live there. I was sitting in a class and staring out of the window when suddenly I noticed that the green vines had turned amazingly red  and beautiful. And so I decided that this deserves its picture taken.

One of my submissions for the photo contest held in my school.

It's truly a cliché photo, but the road to my school looked absolutely wonderful and I wanted to show to others, that even a simple road from the cafeteria to the school can be very beautiful. Actually the whole place kind of reminds me of my precious England.

Another shot from Mütofest 2011.

I was kind of "hired" to take pictures of the festival (workshops, lectures, sword fights...), but most of the time I just wandered around the place, amazed with the new experience, and tried to take pictures of interesting people when they were doing something and not noticing me.

This is my friend A.

Beyond Peace and Quiet...

Shot in Mütofest 2011

Mütofest is a festival for people who would love to go back in time and spend two days in ancient Estonia. There are real sword fights, role-playing, kings, queens and loyal servants, traditional food, campfires, warm sheepskins, blacksmiths who sit by the fireplace, dark forest which seems to sing quietly some old songs, fire-dancers in the warm and dark August night, taverns and home-made beer...

Found my friend sitting by the fire and warming herself. The day had been quite cold and rainy and she had been working the whole day in the ticket tent. She was talking to her companions and for a moment there was such a mellow expression on her face...

She is Marjaliisa.
